Regional Echocardiographer / Cardiac Sonographer

We are so proud to have been selected to work with WACHS-Kimberley with the intention to deliver outstanding cardiology services, and associated health outcomes, across the Kimberley region.

Commencing in January 2018 we will deliver all public cardiology and cardiac testing (as well as our private service) for the entire Kimberley region.

We are now seeking an appropriately skilled, experienced and like-minded team member to work with us and the Kimberley Health Service to deliver convincing and long lasting health outcomes.

The role is primarily based in Broome on a residential basis, and it is critical that the person is excited about being a member of the team delivering services there as they will work closely with the hospital doctors and staff to support inpatient and outpatient outcomes. They will provide exceptional service to the Broome GP Practices and Aboriginal Health Services in the catchment.

The incumbent will also travel with our cardiologists and/or the local health team to provide outreach clinics in Derby, Kununurra, Halls Creek, Fitzroy Crossing and Balgo at selected times of the year. They will provide support and upskilling for health workers in the region.

There are a complicated set of challenges associated with achieving these lofty goals. Distance is a tyrant and weather patterns can make getting to patients difficult. There is a high incidence of Rheumatic Heart Disease in the region and we are hoping to become involved in research to measure how our endeavours can effect real change in health outcomes.

The right person will come with either experience or willingness to immerse themselves in cultural understanding, as ensuring cultural safety for our Aboriginal patients is a primary requirement.

Your communication skills will be exemplary, and you will be willing and able to work as part of our team while living away from it. You will be our face and our brand in the region – plus we will bring you to Perth regularly so that you are also a well-known member of our team.

Our Practice

As a Group of 14 world class Cardiologists, with a strong public and private health presence, we're focused on providing outstanding care with an ethical, thoughtful and sustainable approach at all time. Our doctors are leaders in sub-specialised cardiology fields such as Cardiac Imaging, Electrophysiology, Advanced Heart Failure, Structural Heart and Valvular Implantations, Angioplasty and other Interventional Procedures. They are approachable to discuss patient findings and encourage and enable team members to develop beyond the job description of a standard sonographer.
