Professional Fees

The Perth Cardiovascular Institute charges fees that are higher than the Medicare rebate, but less than those recommended by the Australian Medical Association. You may be eligible for a concession as detailed below.

Outpatient Services

  • For all outpatient services, we require full payment of your account on the day of your test.
  • When you make your booking, you will be advised of the cost of the test(s) your referring doctor has requested.
  • Pensioners and health care card holders will be bulk billed for services.
Please ensure you bring your pension and/or Health Care Card to your appointment.
  • Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) accounts will be sent directly to DVA on behalf of each patient.
  • For all other patients, there is a gap to pay over and above the amount paid by Medicare (the Medicare rebate).
  • Please note that Health Insurance funds do not cover fees for outpatient services.
  • In Hospital Services

All Perth Cardiovascular Institute cardiologists accept the reimbursement provided by your Health Insurance Fund plus Medicare as payment in full for any In Hospital services, so there is NO GAP to pay.

    Referrals

Please note that in order to be eligible for a Medicare refund, a valid referral is required. Generally, referrals from general practitioners are valid for 12 months, and those from specialists/physicians are valid for 3 months only. If your referral is not current, Medicare will pay only a small proportion of the Medicare rebate.

You are responsible for ensuring that your referral is up to date. Please call 9386 8833 and one of our friendly medical receptionists will be able to check the status of your referral for you. (Please note that it is illegal for a medical practitioner to back date a referral.)
