Andrei Catanchin graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1997. His cardiology training has taken him to Geelong, Brisbane, Perth and London UK where he recently completed his cardiac electrophysiology clinical and research fellowship at St George's University and Hospital.
Whilst Dr Catanchin manages a wide range of general cardiac conditions his primary interest is in the treatment and cure of heart rhythm disorders and includes catheter ablation procedures for atrial fibrillation and other arrhythmias as well as implantation and extraction of pacemakers and ICDs. Dr Catanchin is a visiting consultant at Royal Perth Hospital.

Michael Davis trained in cardiology at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and Royal Perth Hospital before undertaking subspecialty cardiac electrophysiology training at Massachussetts General Hospital in Boston. He was on staff at Royal Perth Hospital from 1985 until 2008.
Dr Davis specialises in cardiac arrhythmia management including pacing, catheter ablation and implantable defibrillator use. He has been a pioneer in ablation, with research interests in this area and, in the management of atrial fibrillation. He has ongoing commitment to general cardiology, echocardiography and cardiac catherterisation.

Geoffrey Mews graduated from the University of Western Australia and trained in cardiology at Royal Perth Hospital and the Massachussetts General Hospital in Boston. He was on staff at Royal Perth Hospital from 1978 until 2007.
He has wide experience and training in all areas of cardiology and has been instrumental in introducing new techniques to Western Australia, such as coronary angioplasty in 1980. He remains actively involved in angioplasty research, including intracoronary irradiation therapy for restenosis.
His major interests are in coronary investigation and angioplasty in stable angina, as well as unstable coronary syndromes, including acute myocardial infarction.

Gerry O'Driscoll graduated from University College Cork, Ireland and completed advanced cardiology training in Western Australia. Having worked at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, he was appointed as consultant cardiologist and medical Head of the Western Australian Advanced Heart Failure Service and Cardiac Transplant Unit at Royal Perth Hospital.
Apart from general cardiology, Prof. O'Driscoll's areas of special interest include risk factor modification, heart failure, cardiac intensive care, cardiomyopathy and pulmonary hypertension. He is skilled in cardiac catheterisation and non-invasive cardiac imaging. Widely published in the field of cardiology, Prof. O'Driscoll leads the Cardiovascular Research Group at Royal Perth Hospital and holds appointments as Professor at the University of Western Australia and the University of Notre Dame.

Jamie Rankin graduated from the University of Western Australia and trained in all aspects of adult cardiology at Royal Perth Hospital. Following further training in cardiology at Royal Perth and Vancouver General hospitals.
Dr Rankin is Head of Cardiology at Royal Perth Hospital, with ongoing commitment to general cardiology, echocardiography and interventional cardiology.
He participates in the 24 hour on-call angioplasty service for the treatment of acute myocardial infarction offered at Royal Perth Hospital and Hollywood Private Hospital. He also maintains a keen interest in clinical trials and research.

Matthew Best graduated from the University of Western Australia with advanced cardiology training at Royal Perth Hospital before undertaking further cardiology training in the field of advanced heart failure management and cardiac transplantation at Papworth Hospital, United Kingdom.
He has been a consultant cardiologist at both the Western Australian Advanced Heart Failure Service and Cardiac Transplant Unit at Royal Perth Hospital since 2005.

Matthew Erickson graduated from the University of Western Australia and completed his physician and general cardiology training at Royal Perth Hospital. After completing a fellowship in echocardiology at Monash Medical center in Victoria, he went on to complete fellowships in interventional cardiology at both Royal Perth Hospital and Hôpital Haut-Lévêque in Bordeaux, France.
He is an interventional cardiologist, echocardiologist and consultant cardiologist in the Western Australian Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant service at Royal Perth Hospital.
Aside from general cardiology, Matthew's special interest areas are interventional cardiology, echocardiology including stress and trans-oesophageal echocardiology, and heart failure management.

Anne Powell graduated in medicine from the University of Melbourne and completed a PhD in cardiovascular pharmacology at the same university in 1989.
She trained in cardiology in Melbourne and in electrophysiology in Boston.
Dr Powell has worked as a full time cardiologist at Royal Perth Hospital since 1994 and is involved in teaching and research.
She specialises in the management of cardiac arrhythmias, including interventional electrophysiology and catheter ablation, pacemakers, and implantable defibrillators.

Sharad Shetty trained in Interventional Cardiology at the Royal Perth and Royal Melbourne Hospitals. Following this he completed a fellowship in peripheral vascular interventions at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA, training in interventional treatment of renal artery stenosis, carotid artery disease, and lower extremity claudication in addition to cardiac intervention.
He is a Consultant Cardiologist at RPH and as Clinical Senior Lecturer with the University of Western Australia with interests are general Cardiology and intervention. He specialises in coronary angioplasty/stenting, valvuloplasty, percutaneous closure of ASDs/PFOs as well as renal, carotid and lower extremity angioplasty and stenting.
Cardiologists at the Perth Cardiovascular Institute at Hollywood Private Hospital are members of the Clinical Academic Unit at Hollywood Private and all have current teaching appointments at Royal Perth Hospital.
The interventional cardiologists in this unit introduced coronary angioplasty to Western Australia in 1980 and have experience with over 10,000 procedures.
They have been performing acute myocardial infarction angioplasty since the mid 1980s and are actively involved in coronary angioplasty research.
The cardiac electrophysiology team has extensive experience in pacing, radiofrequency arrhythmia ablation and the use of implantable cardiac defibrillators. They have major research interests in clinical electrophysiology.
The group also provides special expertise in advanced heart failure management and rehabilitation, cardiac transplantation, echocardography and stress testing.
