On Tuesday 20th July Perth Cardio held their first Plastic Free Morning Tea in support of Plastic Free July.
The morning was such a success that it was actually a completely ZERO WASTE morning tea!
Cakes, pastries and milk were purchased from Dejaxo Artisan Bakers and collected in a reusable container and glass milk bottles.
Tea, coffee and sugar were provided by the Wasteless Pantry who sells bulk food in BYO containers and jars. Prizes were also kindly donated by the Wasteless Pantry in Greenwood.
A compost bin was also provided so used coffee grinds and tea leaves could be composted.
Our Sustainability Officer, Cassie brought in some items to help give people ideas on how they can replace disposable items with reusable items. Items such as reusable silicone zip lock bags, sandwich pouches, green silicone wraps, mesh produce bags, silicone bowl covers and beeswax wraps can all be used to replace single use items such as glad wrap or plastic bags.
Our team discussed the challenges in going zero-waste/plastic-free, and brainstormed ways to refuse, reuse and reduce.
